Lockheed Martin has reached a significant milestone in the production of the F-35 fighter jet with the delivery of the 1,000th center wing assembly (CWA), manufactured at its Marietta facility in the United States.

This part represents about a quarter of the fuselage and is the largest single component of the aircraft. After production, the structure is sent to Fort Worth, Texas, where the final assembly of the jet takes place.

The Marietta plant employs around 1,200 people dedicated to the program and plays a key role in the F-35’s production, continuing the facility’s tradition in military projects like the F-22 Raptor. Additionally, the program includes the collaboration of 29 suppliers based in Georgia, generating an estimated economic impact of $671 million for the state.

Currently operated by 12 countries, the F-35 has already accumulated more than one million flight hours across 600,000 missions worldwide. The jet is designed to deliver high performance in connectivity, survivability, and firepower, making it a crucial component in both current and future strategies of allied air forces.
